Have you tried couple's therapy and realize that the sessions are just too short to address all your concerns? As soon as you and your partner(s) get to the heart of the matter, the session is over! You feel like you and your partner(s) are stuck in a perpetual cycle that you just can't seem to get out of and it feels both discouraging and defeating. You knew an intimate relationship was no walk in the park but you never imagined it would be this taxing!
We have just the solution! Couple's intensives deliver treatment in longer sessions over a shorter period of time. Best of all, we provide Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, which is the gold standard treatment.
You might benefit from a Couple's Intensive if:
Join us in-person in Atlanta (Buckhead), GA, Long Beach, CA, or northeast Los Angeles, CA (in Pasadena) or virtually from Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell, or anywhere in Georgia, South Carolina, or Vermont.

Pre-intensive consultation session before the intensive focuses on informed consent review, goal-setting, and grounding (approximately 75-90 minutes).
Day One focuses on helping couples understand the patterns that create disconnection and the emotional sensitivities that fuel conflict.
Day One typically includes:
Intentional breaks are included throughout the day.
Approximate duration: 6 hours
Day Two focuses on emotional bonding, repair of relationship injuries, and building tools to maintain connection moving forward.
Day Two typically includes:
Intentional breaks are included throughout the day.
Please note that the best results are with the two-day format. When choosing the one day format, the structure changes to only include day 1 as outlined above.
Yes, you may do them in-person or virtually anywhere in California, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, or Vermont.
Yes, studies show that they are as effective. You'll want to ensure you have privacy and a reliable internet connection.
No, insurance companies do not cover them.
Absolutely. I love working with polycules. This will change the structure just a bit and we will need to additional time and costs in for the individual assessments of additional partners. In the initial call, we will determine which partners have the most conflict/disconnection and where the most attention is needed. Those are the partners that will participate in the intensive. Additional partners participating in the intensive (above 2) will incur an additional $450.
This is a great question. During the 15-minute consultation call, we will do a brief assessment to determine if intensives are safe for you. If so, during the pre-intensive consultation session, we will teach you internal coping strategies that will help you lower your anxiety when things become really distressing both during the intensive and outside of therapy. If during the intensive, you are flooded and it is way too much for you, we will help you get back to a place of relative emotional safety. We'll always be with you and will use our clinical expertise and judgment to keep you safe during the intensive.
This is such a valid concern. I'm skilled at intervening and interrupting this type of an escalated pattern. It means that I will firmly but lovingly jump in when shots are fired. My goal here is to not allow you to repeat the same behaviors that are causing the disconnection. I'll hold the mirror up while also co-creating a safe container for all partners to be seen, heard, and held.
I hear this and deal with this a lot. First, during our initial session, I'll need to confirm that there is no longer an active affair. Once confirmed, we will discuss some ground rules: things that you both need to be able to engage in a safe intensive. During the intensive, my goal is to help partners get clarity and move towards repair if that's your goal. We will co-create a safe container for all feelings--betrayal, hurt, guilt, shame--as well as accountability.
Intensives are only offered on Fridays and Saturdays at this time. Other weekdays are reserved for traditional hourly therapy sessions.
Absolutely. I'm happy to work with your primary therapist to ensure continuum of care, with your written permission.
