Have you invested in traditional talk therapy and realize that the sessions are just too short? They end right when you get to the good part! Or, maybe you have some emotional injuries that you know if you could just have some extended, focused time during one session, you could really uproot what's underlying your current feelings of distress, agony, and just overall lack of joy? Maybe your schedule just doesn't allow for you to attend weekly therapy but you can commit to several hours for one day or a few days.
We have just the solution! Therapy intensives deliver treatment in longer sessions over a shorter period of time. Best of all, we provide EMDR therapy for individual intensives, which is the gold standard treatment for trauma, which are any physical, emotional, or sexual injury that left your nervous system discombobulated and/or caused you to have a deeply felt sense that you are not worthy, capable, safe, and/or good enough. Intensives will help you get the healing you need and get back to joy and fulfillment in your life and relationships!
You might benefit from a Therapy Intensive if:
We serve folks in-person in Atlanta (Buckhead) and Athens, GA and virtually in Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell, or anywhere in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, or Vermont.
Yes, you may do them in-person or virtually anywhere in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina or Vermont.
No, insurance companies do not cover them.
This is a great question. During the 15-minute consultation call, we will do a brief assessment to determine if intensives are safe for you. If so, during the initial 75 minute session, we will teach you internal coping strategies that will help you lower your anxiety when things become really distressing both during the intensive and outside of therapy. If during the intensive, you are flooded and it is way too much for you, we will help you get back to a place of relative emotional safety. We'll always be with you and will use our clinical expertise and judgment to keep you safe during the intensive.
Intensives are typically offered on Fridays and Saturdays. On occasion, I have other availability, but this is hard to come by.
Absolutely. I'm happy to work with your primary therapist to ensure continuum of care, with your written permission.
